Tiger I Tank 1:76

The Tiger Tank was produced to combat the capable Soviet T34 tank that was appearing in 1941. Heavily armored and armed with a version of the 8.8cm anti-aircraft gun it was the most formidable armored fighting vehicle of the Second World War up until early 1944, when it was eclipsed by the Soviet IS-2 'Joseph Stalin' tank.

Initially employed as a spearhead in the attack it later found its true vocation as a defensive weapon. The first operational use was in the unsuitable swampy forests around Leningrad where it was an easy target for Soviet defenders.

The Tiger I equipped the Heavy Tank battalions that were deployed at the Corps level. It was intended that heavy tank battalions were incorporated into the Panzer Division but only a select few Panzer divisions, mostly SS, received them.
