Hawker Hurricane MK1 1:48

The Hawker Hurricane was the Royal Air Force's first eight gun fighter. During the Battle of Britain there were twice as many Hurricanes as Spitfires and they were responsible for shooting down many more aircraft.

It was manufactured with metal wings but the fuselage was still covered with fabric the same as the previous biplanes it was descended from. By the time of the Battle of Britain the Hurricane was nearing the end of it's useful life as a fighter being outdated by more modern designs. Nevertheless it went on to serve in other roles such as a fighter bomber and a special version launched by catapult to protect the Atlantic convoys from U-Boats and German Condor maritime bombers.
