F-4F Phantom II 1:72

The Phantom has been in service since 1958 and, to this day, has provided sterling service to many of the World's Air Forces. The all-weather fighter/interceptor was originally produced for the US Navy but has been developed for different roles for use by many navies and air forces since then.

Over 5,000 examples of this aircraft have been produced of which 635 were the F-4C model and 773 were the F-4D model.

The Phantom is a large aircraft that can carry nearly 8.5 metric tons of ordnance on nine external hard points. Weapons include air to air missiles, bombs and Vulcan rotary canon as well as additional fuel tanks and electronic warfare modules.

The Phantom can reach Mach 2.2 and has a climb rate of 210 m/s. These figures are impressive for a heavy aircraft weighing in at 27 metric tons.

The aircraft was named Phantom II on July 3rd 1959 but the II was eventually dropped, the aircraft being referred to as simply Phantom.

The F-4F variant was in service with the Luftwaffe. It was very similar to the F-4E. The Revell model depicts a Luftwaffe aircraft in the 25 year celebration colour scheme.
